Wind and wave regimes for the design of an offshore wind farm

Globocean has performed an assessment of the wind and wave statistical conditions between the islands of Groix and Belle-Ile (Brittany) for the design of a floating wind farm.


The following missions have been successfully performed by Globocean :


  • Numerical simulation of the offshore swell (WaveWatchIII software)

  • Wave propagation within the wind farm area (SWAN software)

  • Validation of the wave modelling thanks to buoy in-situ measurements (local survey)

  • Extreme statistical processing of the sea-states (uni-variate extreme analysis by EVA process and bi-variate by KDE contour plots)

  • 1D and 2D spectral characterization
