Wind and Wave conditions for the wind farm project off Dunkirk

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

Dunkirk (FRANCE)

Client : ARTELIA

Date of completion : 2017

Globocean has performed a metocean desktop study for the design of the offshore wind turbines deemed to be installed off Dunkirk.

The following missions were performed by Globocean :

  • Numerical modelling of the wave generation at oceanic scale (WaveWatch III software)

  • Configuration and execution of the wave propagation model (SWAN software)

  • Assessment and integration of the tidal levels and currents in the wave propagation modelling

  • Validation of the wave modelling thanks to in-situ wave buoys (Candhis network)

  • Assessment of the local wind regime

  • Statistical analysis of the main wave regime (wave rose) and wind parameters on site (wind shear, vertical variation of the wind speed and direction, turbulence intensity)
